2013 Maine Comedy Festival

I’m a Comic and fellow Mainer, now based in Los Angeles. I always love a good excuse to get back to my home state of MAINE. I love performing it, writing it, and witnessing it when others perform it. So I decided to produce Maine’s first and only comedy arts celebration with some my most hilarious friends and colleagues in the funny business.

Once again, the Maine Comedy Festival has partnered with the amazing and generous people of The Bethel Inn Resort, in beautiful western mountain town, Bethel Maine, to host our 3rd annual comedy arts event. This Resort is absolutely gorgeous with so much to do there. This classic New England resort is surrounded by 200 acres with mountains and lakes on all sides, providing a variety of traditional Inn and luxury townhouse accommodations, offering every possible amenity and activity along with both fine and casual dining. Most of all provide welcoming and friendly service in an atmosphere of casual, country elegance with affordable vacation packages to suit your needs, budget and taste.

Our annual charity golf tournament will take place on Friday morning, August 2, and as usual, comedic hecklers are welcome on the golf course. Winner foursome receives more than $500 in prizes.

The charity event will benefit The Unity Project. UP is a non-profit, school-based bias and harassment prevention program focused on Maine middle and high schools. The mission of UP is to build strong leadership among young people and adults to prevent harassment and create safe schools.

We’re doing the pool party again this year too and we will be adding live music and drink specials and free swag (merchandise) giveaways and there will be an informal trip to Frenchman’s Hole on the side of Sunday River for the daredevils who want to attempt 20-30 foot cliff jumps into a swimming hole with the Bethel and Newry locals.

I couldn’t be more proud of the developing line up! We have been asked repeatedly for a local Maine favorite to return to the fest, so we’ve taken the hint and asked funnyman and local comic, Johnny Ater to emcee all the comedy showcases. Johnny’s humor and faces are NOT to be missed.

We’ve also asked one of Comedy Central’s Top 10 Comics To Watch to headline our Saturday night 9pm show, Matt D. He is one of the most dry-witted comedians on the rise! We know how Mainers love that dry wit and that’s one of a dozen reasons why we’re having him lead that big second show Saturday night.

Check back soon for more final Comic line up announcements.

Please join me and a bunch of my funniest friends in the biz for one of the most memorable getaways of the summer!
